TIPS TO AVOID AN ATV/UTV E&O NIGHTMARE

TIPS TO AVOID
An ATV/UTV E&O Nightmare

Most homeowner’s policies only cover ATVs, UTVs and golf carts when they are being used exclusively to maintain the premises of the home or other location owned by the insured.

Once the unlicensed vehicle leaves the physical premises or the insured uses it recreationallyon the premises, liability, comprehensive and collision coverage, are often excluded from the homeowner’s policies

The following situation was described to us by an agent appointed with National General:

“I know firsthand about the homeowner’s limitation. My family has an ATV that was rolled on a farm recently. My homeowner’s carrier denied the claim and we paid the hospital bill out of our pocket.”

Another agent offered additional insight:
“We have many clients who are hunters and we know there is no coverage for their ATV/UTV on the homeowner’s policy, so we sell these ATV and UTV policies regularly. I didn’t know until today that ATV and UTV was a part of NatGen’s motorcycle program so we only offered other carriers. That will change now”

How do you cover ATVs and UTVs?
National General‘s motorcycle insurance programprovides coverage for liability, physical damage and med pay for the insured and passengers. We also offer insurance for golf carts, scooters and snowmobiles.

Don’t assume your customers with these unlicensed vehicles are covered by their homeownersinsurance. Add this to your agency’s quote form and renewal questionnaire today and consider quoting National General to fill this potential “coverage gap” for your customers. Of course, the NatGen Motorcycle program also has the extensive coverage options formotorcycles and scootersonly aspecialty motorcycle programprovides.
